Mixing your music with DJ Mixer

You can import audio files from your iPod music library directly on your iPhone or iPod Touch without having to copy them from the desktop or use iTunes to import from the desktop to your USB connected mobile device. Once imported, you can play and mix these files in DJ Mixer.

Direct iPod Library Importing

Follow these steps to import MP3, AAC(M4A), AIF and WAV audio files from the iPod media music library on your device:

  1. Tap the 'Add music from your iPod Library in the Playlists screen
  2. Select the song to import from your music library
  3. When importing is done, tap the 'Add Another Song' button to import more songs

Additional Info:

  • This feature requires iOS 4.0 or later. See below how to import music to iOS 3.0 devices or to an iPad
  • This feature requires DJ Mixer Starter 2.1 or later, DJ Mixer Pro 2.1 or later, or the free DJ Mixer Ultiamte 2.1 or later with the mix your own music feature unlocked
  • If you have bought protected audio files from iTunes you can convert them to AAC files in iTunes using Apple iTunes Plus feature
  • If you have audio files in other formats such as MP3 then you can easily convert them to AAC in iTunes. We are working on fully supporting MP3 imports in future App updates.

Desktop Importing with iTunes

If you are using an iPad or an iPod Touch or an iPhone running iOS 4.0 or later you can import your music using iTunes

  1. Open iTunes on your desktop with your device connected to your desktop via USB
  2. Click on your device name in the left view and click the Apps tab.
  3. Scroll down below the Apps list and select DJ Mixer in the File Sharing section
  4. Drag and drop music files from Finder to the DJ Mixer Documents list
  5. In DJ Mixer on your device, go to the Settings screen and tap the Add Songs from your Desktop button
  6. Tap the Files shared in iTunes button. The App will import all the audio files you added in iTunes

Additional info:

  • This feature reuiqres DJ Mixer Starter, Pro or the free DJ Mixer Ultimate with the mix your own music feature unlocked
  • AAC/M4A, MP3, AIF or WAV audio file are supported but we recommend using AAC/M4A files. You can easily convert any unprotected audio file to an AAC/M4A file in iTunes (see below)

Converting unprotected audio files to AAC files

  1. Click Preferences from the iTunes Menu
  2. Click on Import Settings... in the General Preferences Section
  3. Choose AAC Encoder in the Import Using drop down menu
  4. Choose iTunes Plus in the Setting drop down menu and click OK
  5. Select one or more audio files in your iTunes Music Library and choose Create AAC Version from theĀ AdvancedĀ Menu
  6. Include the newly created AAC/m4A files with the files that are synced to your iPhone or iPod Touch and sync your device

Converting purchased iTunes music to AAC files

Desktop Importing using WiFi

If you are still running iOS 3.0 or 3.1 on your iPhone or iPod Touch then you can import your music using our free desktop software for OS X and Windows and a WiFi network. This method of importing also works for iPad and for iOS 4.0 devices.

Desktop Importing using djmixer.fm

If none of the above methods work for you (For example, you are running iOS 3.0 or 3.1 on your device and you don't have access to a WiFi network), you can still import your music by uploading audio files to this web site and downloading it to the App.

Pricing and availability

It costs a one-time fee of $9.99 to mix your own music. Mixing your own music is included in the DJ Mixer Pro paid App and is available as a $9.99 in-app purchase in DJ Mixer Ultimate. The mix your own music feature allows you to use any of the importing methods described in this page to add your music to the App. iPod and iTunes importing is available starting at version 2.1 of DJ Mixer. Existing DJ Mixer users who have unlocked the feature to mix their own music will get the new capabilities for free via an App update. DJ Mixer is available worldwide via the Apple Store.
